Community Guidelines
This area will be expanded upon greatly in the coming months but i want to address some basics.
Groups:
I would like to keep all public groups to strictly discussions. No sales ads. There will be some exceptions in the case of private groups ei local clubs or a private group for a business. Its fine to direct people to an ad you have posted in the classifieds but I want to avoid discussion groups being flooded with ads. Of course in the case of private groups be sure to follow the rules of the individual groups.
Conduct:
This site is for discussing plants and animals and the issues related to them. (ie shipping, laws, etc)
Any posts relating to politics, sex, religion, intentionally divisive topics are subject to deletions and can lead to warnings and possibile account deletion. In the case of account deletion there will be no refunds. (This subject will be expanded on in detail soon)
Its important to foster a positive environment for newcomers. Do your best to keep comments constructive any post where a more experienced hobbyist is being intentionally rude those posts maybe deleted.
When showing videos or images of feeding predators whether feeding live or dead those posts should be set as friends only and include a predator warning. This community will have people from all different hobbies so what maybe a common activity for some maybe disturbing for others.
Displaying handling of animals. There are various ways to handle animals and the safety of the animal and the person is important. All animals can bite but some can do more damage then others. If you are handling a dangerous animal in a way that you risk damage to yourself thats your choice but you will be required to add a disclaimer so that new hobbyists understand that its not the safest or prefered way to handle that species. In regards to animal safety some examples would be handling an animal in a way where they could fall and hurt themselves, fish taken out of water to be photographed, or amphibians handled without gloves. If there is any inherent risk to the animal due to the technique chosen to handle them its important to provide a disclaimer to help newcomers understand the risk.
